Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. In this role, you will manage, maintain, and optimize database systems to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity. You will collaborate with development, analytics, and infrastructure teams to support business operations and enable data-driven decision-making.
Job Specification:
Educational Level: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience Required: 4 years and above
Key Responsibilities:
A. Database Administration & SQL Development (Operational / OLTP)
• Work with stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain efficient and scalable database structures.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for data retrieval, updates, and reporting.
• Create and maintain database objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Monitor and enhance database performance through indexing, query tuning, and system optimization.
• Plan and carry out data migration activities while maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
• Implement and manage database security, including authentication, access control, and user permissions.
• Configure and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Maintain documentation for database schemas, configurations, and procedures.
• Coordinate with developers, analysts, and system administrators to ensure smooth database and application integration.
• Participate in database testing to confirm functionality and data accuracy.
• Develop SQL scripts and queries to support reporting and business analytics.
• Monitor database health and respond to alerts to ensure high availability and stable performance.
B. Data Warehousing & ETL (Analytical / OLAP)
• Design and implement dimensional data models such as Star Schema and Snowflake Schema for data warehouse environments.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to load data from source systems, including operational databases, APIs, and flat files, into the data warehouse.
• Transition legacy ETL processes or SSIS packages into modern, scalable cloud-based workflows.
• Apply data warehousing best practices such as conformed dimensions, degenerate dimensions, and snapshot fact tables to support analytical needs.
C. Shared Responsibilities
• Implement validation and cleansing processes to maintain strong data quality across systems.
• Schedule and monitor database jobs and data pipelines using scheduling or orchestration tools.
• Maintain detailed documentation, including data mappings, data dictionaries, and source-to-target specifications.
D. Data Warehousing Expertise
• Understanding of Kimball methodology, dimensional modeling, and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD).
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or modern tools like dbt or Matillion.
• Familiarity with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, including virtual warehouses, clustering, and handling semi-structured data (JSON/Parquet).
Preferred Skills:
Python for data extraction, transformation, or automation (Pandas, SQLAlchemy, Snowflake Connector).
• .NET (C#) experience for building utilities or APIs supporting data integration.
• Familiarity with cloud storage platforms such as AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage.
• Experience using Git-based version control systems such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator, SQL Developer, or in a similar role.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL and database management.
• Experience with database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with SQL Reporting Services or similar reporting tools.
• Familiarity with NoSQL/NewSQL databases.
• Knowledge of database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Good time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for system performance and reliability.
